I would like to share with you this week is the vintage LP of the "Cinderella" story. It was on the Disneyland label back in the early 60's. It was another great album from the Disney princess. It has a full color 11 page booklet with pictures and illustrations from the film. The back of the cover has the catalog of Disney LP's that were available and it got no price tag from $3.98 except the Music Mural Series LP's that it was about more maybe $4.98 or something. That price tag was not on the back. It has characters from Snow White, Uncle Remus, the Seven Dwarfs, Bambi, Thumper, Davy Crocket, Alice, Peter Pan, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Dumbo, Zorro and Pinocchio gather around the "Magic Mirror". It has a 1962 copyright on the bottom, but on the front has the 1960 copyright at the bottom left. Here are the pics from that LP:
The first album cover I don't have is from 1957 and it was told by Jiminy Cricket. I didn't listen to this LP before until Ginny Tyler, a Disneyland storyteller brought over to re-recorded the story. In 1960, Ginny took over and then later recorded the narration for the story of "Cinderella". They removed the Jiminy Cricket narrator from the whole album but it still be heard on "Pinocchio" (ST-3905). The 1957 LP was one of its first release ever on Disneyland, and it is still rare and hard to find.
This is another album cover I have is from 1960. It includes a die-cut "Magic Mirror" on the front cover of the LP.
And then, another LP cover from 1969. I used to have a 1969 reissue when I was a kid. Lots of background used in water paint with the illustration. It had Cinderella with the mice except Jaq & Gus.
And finally, another fine LP cover from 1981 to promote the re-release of "Cinderella". Same story and it has the cover of Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother with the mice. Nice jacket. It has the rainbow Disneyland label next to the cover.
And here is the label for the "Cinderella" story.
I will give you this week's story from my personal collection is another well known character in the Disney princess. It's the story of "Cinderella". If you listen carefully, the narrator was mocking Jiminy Cricket, that was a narrator's joke. This was taken from a record album. Back in October, Disney had just released a 2-DVD special edition of "Cinderella" with loads of special features and the behind the scenes featurette about the making of the film. I hope you will enjoy this great story.
